Staff Geotechnical Engineer

Location: California - Oakland

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform geotechnical and geological engineering tasks including field investigations, engineering analysis, and design of dams, tunnels, levees, canals, levees, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and other water resources projects.

Prepare technical memos, reports, construction specifications and other written documentation.

Prepare design drawings using computer aided design and drafting equipment.

Prepare cost estimates, schedules and construction documents, monitor construction activities in the field.

Travel up to 50%

REQUIREMENTS

B.S./M.S. degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical emphasis. Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills required. Ability to manage contractors and field crews.

0-6 years of experience, engineering intern certification, P.E. Preferred.

Strong fundamental knowledge of principle of geotechnical or geological engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, and groundwater hydrology.

Working knowledge of numeric modeling and finite element analysis, seismic hazard assessments, and seismic analysis and designs.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, CAD, MS Office, MS Powerpoint, and other computer applications.
