Slurry Walls

Construction in the urban environment often requires an excavation support system that minimizes movement of adjacent structures and allows efficient control of groundwater. For such cases GEI has designed many slurry wall support systems. Our extensive experience with design of slurry walls includes being one of the lead consultants for the depression of the Central Artery in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the largest civil infrastructure projects ever undertaken. The entire 1.6-mile section of depressed roadway was constructed using slurry wall technology. In some areas the slurry wall extends to a depth of 110 feet.
