GLASTONBURY, Conn.—December 13, 2010 — GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced today that two of its engineers have been recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers for contributions to the association: Gary Fuerstenberg, P.E. was awarded the Connecticut Sections 2009 President’s Award, while Peter M. Heynen, P.E. was recognized as a Life Member from the Connecticut Section as well. “We are thrilled for Peter and Gary as they receive their awards,” said Francis D. Leathers, president of GEI Consultants. “Peter Heynen has been a great contributor to his profession for more than thirty years, and Gary Fuerstenberg exemplifies the dedication and commitment that it takes to support this profession and this great organization.” Gary Fuerstenberg, P.E. With more than fifteen years of experience involving geotechnical investigation, design, construction, instrumentation, laboratory testing, and forensic services, Fuerstenberg’s broad engineering and construction background allows him to integrate geotechnical, environmental and civil/site engineering services. Mr. Fuerstenberg is a registered Professional Engineer in nine states, and earned a undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Platteville and his master’s degree in civil engineering and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is located in GEI’s Glastonbury, Conn. office. Peter Heynen, P.E. With an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from New England College and graduate studies in geotechnical engineering from the University of Connecticut, Mr. Heynen is a licensed Professional Engineer in eight states. A consultant for more than 40 years, Heynen has provided services for all phases of projects including planning, investigation, design, construction and operation for a broad range of assignments including buildings, bridges, tunnels, roads, railroads, airport, dams, levees, pipelines, landfills, utilities, mines, harbors, brownfield sites and environmental remediation projects.
