As the demand for water supplies increases, the value and competition for this resource also increases. Water Purveyors need a high level of water management skills to manage their resources and make the best long-term decisions that will provide reliable and cost–effective water supplies for their customers. GEI provides water management expertise to a large range of clients from local water districts or irrigation districts, to cities and counties, and at the state and federal level. Water managers at all levels face similar challenges of providing the best service to their rate payers with the use of their available water supplies. GEI’s water management expertise derives in large part from nearly 50 years of experience in facing these challenges in the arid western United States. This expertise allows GEI to assist its clients to meet their current and future water needs by proving effective workable solutions that meet the technical, institutional, regulatory, economic, and environmental challenges facing water managers. This is done in part by helping our clients formulate their water management vision and develop “implementable” plans to make the best use of their water assets. With increased competition for the limited supply, sound water management is needed to meet these challenges which may include regional solutions and the use of more elaborate water management options including the use of water transfers, conjunctive management of groundwater and surface water supplies, protecting water quality and matching water quality to appropriate uses. To meet these complex challenges, GEI assists its clients in the preparation of water management plans such as integrated water management plans, groundwater management plans, urban water management plans and agricultural water management plans which help formulate their vision and development of implementable plans. These plans are often supported by detailed technical analysis that defines the specific needs, and the project specifications and plans to meet those needs. |
