Boston, Mass. — December 16, 2011 — GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced today that it has added five new employees to its project management staff. Eliza Jane Whitman, P.E., LEED AP, vice president and Los Angeles area manager; Lissa Robinson, P.E., CG, senior civil engineer, hydrogeologist and land planner; John Link, senior project geologist; Joseph M. Green-Heffern, P.E., senior geotechnical professional; and Bradley Hermanson, P.E., P.M.P, western region environmental practice leader will support GEI’s clients in the civil, geotechnical, environmental engineering, and water resources fields. “GEI Consultants is committed to developing, recruiting and retaining leading professionals with the experience and talent necessary to provide innovative solutions that exceed client expectations,” said Ray Hart, GEI’s chief operating officer. “These five individuals are seasoned experts and we’re excited to add them to our team.” Eliza Jane Whitman, P.E., LEED AP, is a vice president and Los Angeles area manager with more than 20 years of diverse experience in water and energy resources, civil engineering and infrastructure design, and operations. Her prior experience includes serving as vice president and director of sustainable strategies in the water and infrastructure sector for a 10,000 person global engineering and construction firm. Before returning to private practice, she was a senior manager with the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA), a regional water and wastewater agency in Chino Basin that has long been recognized for its leadership in integrated resource management. There she developed and managed a diverse portfolio of projects and activities designed to help the agency and the region achieve its water and energy efficiency and reliability goals. A registered engineer in California and a LEED accredited professional, Ms. Whitman received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University. She is located in GEI’s Glendale, California office. Bradley C. (Brad) Hermanson, P.E., PMP, is a western region environmental practice leader with more than 28 years of consulting engineering experience. A project and program manager, process engineer, and organizational consultant for both industrial and government clients, he has managed programs or projects addressing over 50 CERCLA and 20 state cleanup sites, served as lead process engineer on 10 CERCLA sites, and provided project management support on complex NEPA and endangered species consultation projects. In addition, he has assisted numerous industrial clients dealing with water or wastewater treatment or discharge challenges, and has successfully assisted organizations seeking improvement in their project delivery. He is also a highly-regarded instructor and practitioner in project risk management, decision theory, and advanced project delivery. Mr. Hermanson received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and his master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Oregon State University, and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Oregon. He is located in GEI’s Portland, Oregon office. Joseph Green-Heffern, P.E., is a senior project manager who specializes in civil and geotechnical engineering for dams, reservoirs and other earthwork construction. His 30 years of experience includes water and wastewater infrastructure associated with dams, flood and storm water control; water conveyance and treatment facilities; transportation infrastructure for roads, bridges and airports; remediation for solid waste facilities; and hazardous waste remediation for commercial and industrial facilities. Mr. Green-Heffern holds a bachelor’s of science in Civil Engineering and a master’s of science in Geotechnical Engineering from Stanford University. Previously employed by GEI in its Denver office, Mr. Green-Heffern rejoins the firm in its Oakland, California, office. Lissa Robinson, P.E., C.G., Senior Civil Engineer, Hydrogeologist, and Land Planner, has more than twenty two years of experience in geology, civil engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, and hydraulics in Maine and throughout New England. Her experience includes brownfields redevelopment planning and investigation, water resource protection planning and implementation, surface water hydrology evaluations, stormwater management studies and erosion control planning and implementation. Ms. Robinson has spent her career working on projects that include landfill water quality monitoring, groundwater contamination investigation and remediation, land-use planning, site redevelopment planning, lake and coastal wave run-up, shoreline protection, lake level management, environmental site assessments, wind power feasibility, and environmental management and response planning. A licensed professional engineer and a certified geologist in the state of Maine, Ms. Robinson received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Tufts University, her Master’s Degree in Community Planning and Development from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine, and she pursued graduate work in engineering hydrology at Imperial College, University of London, England. Ms. Robinson is located in GEI’s Portland, Maine office. John Link joins GEI as a senior project geologist in the environmental practice with more than 20 years of experience in the geology and geotechnical engineering fields. His primary focus includes environmental site assessments, groundwater investigations, and oversight of large field operations. He has completed field projects in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Alabama. Mr. Link holds a bachelor’s of science in Earth Science from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and a master’s of science in Geology from Washington State University.
