Kahl, PE, senior vice president and New England region manager, has been named GEI’s chief financial officer. “Tom brings to this critical position proven financial skills, in-depth industry and company experience, strong practical knowledge of GEI’s broad array of services, and a genuine client-first approach. He has spent the past twenty years in the shoes of GEI’s staff engineers and scientists, project managers, and company leadership, working on hundreds of projects across America,” said Frank Leathers, president of GEI Consultants. “Tom’s operational experience, MBA in Finance, and his tenure on the board of directors including participation in the Audit and Finance Committee has enabled him to gain vision and insight to develop the strategies needed to help advance GEI as we continue to grow in staff, geographic footprint, and service offerings.” GEI is an employee-owned consulting engineering firm with 500 staff located in 25 offices throughout the United States. Mr. Kahl joined GEI in 1989 after graduating from Tufts University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering. He left the company in 2000 to attend Cornell University, receiving his MBA in Finance in 2002, and returned directly to GEI upon graduation. Kahl continued to work on numerous geotechnical, environmental, and water resources-related projects, and became the firm’s New England region manager in 2003, which included full profit and loss responsibility for the region’s operations. He was elected by the company’s 113 shareholders to his fourth two-year term on GEI’s board of directors in April, 2011, and also serves as the company treasurer. About GEI Consultants, Inc.
