GEI employs a risk-based approach to remediation to provide flexibility for potential end-use options, reduce the cost of remediation, and assure the community and stakeholders that there will be no significant exposure to site contaminants.

A risk-based strategy defines the exposure pathways and recommends the type of data needed to implement the remedy selected. To ensure protection of human health, the strategy relies both on local standards and on EPA guidance and takes special notice of the urban environment, including the surrounding community.

Effective risk communication to the affected community is an important element of our risk-based analysis. The goal of this communications program is to address concerns and provide timely and accurate information to community decision makers. GEI has strong and proven expertise in hundreds of such risk-based project approaches.
