GEI has evaluated and remediated hundreds of sites throughout the country. We have the ability to effectively deal with technical and regulatory issues at both simple and the most complex of sites. Many of the projects we have completed have been at sites with a long history of varied uses, resulting in multiple sources and types of contamination to be investigated and remediated. Contaminants of concern (COCs) have included fuel and other oils, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metals, asbestos, and phthalates in soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment. We have designed a wide range of strategies to evaluate remediation options and to identify those that will best accomplish program objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner. We understand there are many solutions toward remediation and/or site closure, but only those that comply with the objectives of the client and other stakeholders, performed in a cost-effective manner, are worth selecting. Therefore, a critical element of the development of remediation strategies includes understanding our client’s remediation goals and objectives for the site. We have evaluated and designed a wide range of remedial alternatives. We have closed sites based on no action or monitored natural attenuation. Our hydrogeologic experts and process engineers have designed extraction and treatment systems. Our engineers have designed both package and custom engineered water and wastewater treatment systems, ranging from simple process modifications to the construction of multi-million dollar systems. Treatment processes have included electrolytic metal recovery, chelating resin ion exchange, sulfide precipitation, biological assimilation, carbon adsorption, air stripping, ultra filtration, micro filtration, and reverse osmosis. Based on our expertise in geotechnical engineering, we have designed in situ remedial solutions such as slurry walls, funnel and gate systems, and cutoff walls. GEI has prepared design drawings, specifications, and engineer’s cost estimates, as required, for a project. We have prepared specifications in various formats, as required by our clients. |
