GEI Consultants Recognizes Ileen Gladstone for Earning LEED® Professional Accreditation

November 6, 2006 —

BOSTON, Mass. GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, and water resources engineering firms, is proud to announce that Vice President Ileen Gladstone, P.E., LSP, recently achieved recognition as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Accredited Professional.

The LEED Green Building Rating System is designed to encourage energy and resource conservation in the construction and operation of buildings. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) support and encourage integrated design and help project teams streamline the LEED application and certification process. The LEED AP program was designed to recognize individuals who have demonstrated the skills and expertise necessary to participate in the green building design process.

Gladstone’s principal area of practice is the development of contaminated properties, and she is an expert in incorporating remediation and cleanup into construction projects. With more than 20 years of experience in the environmental field, Gladstone has worked with clients such as the Massachusetts Port Authority and The Gillette Company.

Gladstone serves on the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner’s Fees and Advisory Committee and the DEP Waste Site Cleanup Committee. She is also a member of the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN), Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS), and New England Women in Real Estate (NEWIRE). Gladstone holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Cooper Union.

About LEED

The LEED Green Building Rating System is a feature-oriented rating system where credits are earned for satisfying specified green building criteria. The five major environmental categories of review include: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, and Indoor Environmental Quality. Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels of green building certification are awarded based on the total credits earned. LEED Rating Systems are currently available for New Construction, Commercial Interiors, and Existing Buildings. In addition, rating systems for Core and Shell, Neighborhood Development, and Homes are currently in progress. The LEED standard has been adopted nationwide by federal agencies, state and local governments, and interested private companies as the guideline for sustainable building.
