Health benefits include medical and dental coverage for you and your eligible family members including eligible domestic partners, as well as Flexible Spending Accounts and long-term care.

Medical Insurance

Our medical insurance provides national coverage through a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). A PPO plan allows members to access any networked provider with no referral needed. Employees are also allowed to seek medical care outside of the network under different payment terms.

Dental Insurance

The dental plan covers a wide range of dental services. It emphasizes preventive care by offering 100% coverage for regular dental examinations. A benefit is paid for orthodonture for dependents under eighteen years old. This plan gives employees the flexibility to use any dental provider they wish.

Vision Care Insurance

We offer an affordable, high-quality eye care plan that supports visual wellness.

Long Term Care

Insurance Long-Term Care Insurance helps protect you and your family against the high cost of care in the event of a long-lasting illness or disability. This is for professional care received either at home or in a facility, when one needs assistance with the activities of daily living.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Flexible spending accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for reimbursement of eligible expenses during a calendar year. GEI offers health care and dependent care flexible spending plans.

Life and Accident Insurance

GEI provides company-paid term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage to all full time and part-time employees scheduled to work thirty hours or more per week in an amount equal to two times base pay. Optional term life insurance is offered through the group plan. You may purchase from one to three times your base pay for yourself. Additionally, when you elect optional term life for yourself, you may purchase term life insurance for your spouse and for your dependent children.

Disability Insurance

Short-term (STD) and long-term (LTD) disability insurance plans are voluntary benefits.

Short-Term Disability Insurance

Under the STD Plan, a benefit is provided for up to 13 weeks of disability. STD benefits begin on the eighth calendar day for a disability due to an illness or injury.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

The LTD Plan provides financial protection for you by paying a portion of your income while you have a long period of disability. The amount you receive is based on the amount you earned before your disability began. Benefits start after the elimination period of 90 calendar days.

Savings and Retirement Benefits

Achieving your personal financial goals is an important part of your life. GEI is committed to helping you reach your goals by providing you with a 401(k) and profit sharing plan.

401(k) and Profit Sharing Plan

This plan is comprised of two programs: a profit-sharing retirement program and a voluntary 401(k) tax-deferred savings program.

The 401(k) Program offers you the immediate opportunity to save a percentage of your pay on a pre-tax basis. You can invest your employee contributions among the plan's many investment options. You pay no taxes on your account while it remains invested in the plan. You may be able to transfer (roll over) funds from another employer's qualified savings or pension plan to GEI's Plan, even if you are not contributing to the plan.

The Profit-Sharing Program is funded by GEI. Contributions to the profit-sharing plan are allocated to eligible employees as a uniform percentage of eligible compensation. Employees become eligible for this program after 500 hours of work at GEI in one plan year. Funds contributed to this program are subject to vesting requirements.

Paid Time Off (Paid Personal Leave, Holidays, Other)

Paid Personal Leave (PPL)

GEI established a Paid Personal Leave (PPL) Plan to offer employees flexibility in taking time off. PPL days are used for vacation days, family illness days, individual sick days, and personal time including inclement weather. With this generous plan, the longer you work at GEI, the more time you accrue per pay period.

Employees who have full time work experience prior to joining GEI receive credit for that experience for the purposes of determining their PPL accrual rate. This results in a smooth transition to joining GEI for individuals whose experience have earned increase paid time off.

Holidays

GEI offices are closed in observation of six holidays. Employees are notified of the holiday schedule annually. Other Paid Time Off Jury duty, military leave, and compassionate (bereavement) leave, are available in addition to PPL days.

GEI encourages professional development in the workplace, including financial support for employees to continue their education so they can meet their current or future career objectives.

Employee Tuition Assistance

GEI's Employee Tuition Assistance Program covers, up to a predetermined limit, course tuition, registration fees and laboratory fees for the successful completion of a college course from an accredited college/university.
