Environmental Audit and Compliance Consulting

GEI has performed environmental audit and compliance consulting services for several Connecticut hospitals and academic institutions.

GEI was retained to conduct environmental regulatory audits of each of the following facilities as a requirement prior to the issuance of CHEFA revenue bonds for proposed building construction.

• Mitchell College

Audits performed at each site included the following state and federal environmental laws and regulations.

• RCRA hazardous waste
• Water discharge
• Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA)
• Air quality
• Biomedical waste laws
• Radiation laws
• UST regulations
• Community right-to-know
• Polychlorinated biphenyls
• Asbestos

Areas of inspection similar to those at any other institutional and/or educational facility included x-ray machines and NRC records, laboratory waste storage and disposal, waste minimization/ pollution prevention plan, USTs, boiler discharges, biochemical waste storage and disposal, and hazardous and industrial waste storage and disposal protocols.

GEI’s environmental audit and compliance work has led to many opportunities to provide follow-up environmental services for our clients. Examples of these services include soil, groundwater and UST management; CEPA environmental impact evaluation of wetlands, flooding/drainage; geotechnical services; even air quality and transportation services.
