GEI’s Frank Leathers Named ACEC Fellow

Boston, Mass. — GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading water resources, geotechnical, and environmental engineering firms, announced today that President Frank Leathers, P.E. has been named a Fellow of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

The voice of America's engineering industry, ACEC members are engaged in a wide range of engineering works that propel the nation's economy, and enhance and safeguard America's quality of life. The College of Fellows of the ACEC is an elite group of engineers who have made significant contributions to the engineering profession through their experience, knowledge, and networking abilities. Fellows are selected by the Fellow membership to voice their opinions and implement the goals and objectives of the College of Fellows. There are currently more than 350 ACEC Lifetime Fellows.

Abbie Goodman, executive director of the ACEC of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) said, “We’re delighted that Frank has been elected to the ACEC College of Fellows. In 2005, Frank was selected for the first ever ACEC/MA Distinguished Service Award, established to recognize unique ACEC MA members who have really moved us forward. His past service as a President of ACEC/MA as well as his direction of key industry task forces exemplifies his leadership and professionalism. He has done so much for our industry and our organization, and he sets an outstanding example for other engineers and engineering firm leaders.”

Currently president of GEI Consultants, Inc., Leathers is a civil engineering graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning his BS degree in 1972 and his MS in geotechnical engineering in 1974. He has been with GEI for 31 years and has played a key role in expanding the firm’s business areas and geographical reach. A past president of ACEC/MA and The Engineering Center, Leathers is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ASFE, the Deep Foundation Institute and the Massachusetts Building Code Seismic Advisory Committee.
