GEI Consultants Promotes Walker to Vice President

BOSTON, Mass. – GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental and water resources engineering firms, announced today the promotion of Michael P. Walker, P.E. to Vice President.

Currently Geo-structural Practice Leader, Walker has over 25 years of experience specializing in soil-structure interaction and focusing on the design and construction of new developments and renovations of existing facilities in urban areas adjacent to existing and sensitive structures. He also works on water resource projects, including dam design and rehabilitation.

During his 15 years at GEI, Walker has worked on many complex projects, including the world’s largest tunnel jacking project, as well as high-profile structures such as excavation support for construction of the new U.S. Capitol Visitor Center next to the foundations of the historic U. S. Capitol Building.

Reporting to Senior Vice President and Regional Manager Tom Kahl, P.E., Walker will continue to manage the Geo-structural Practice, supported at the national level by a variety of engineers in GEI's regional offices.

Walker has numerous publications on the design and performance of specialty geotechnical systems. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in over 15 states.

A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI), Walker is involved with the Micropiles, Slurry/Cut-Off Wall, and Technical Advisory committees. He is also a member of the Association of General Contractors (AGC).

Walker earned a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
