September 14, 2007 — BOSTON, Mass. – September 14, 2007 – GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological engineering firms, announced today that Dr. Robert N. Lambe, Ph.D., P.G. has joined the firm as a Senior Consultant within the firm’s environmental practice area. He will be located in the firm’s Boston headquarters.
Specializing in environmental investigations and remediation, Dr. Lambe has focused his career on the investigation, design and operation of remedial systems for large and complex industrial sites for clients such as Exxon Mobil and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. He has approached remediation as a business process to reduce clients’ overall cost and risk exposure, working closely with community and regulators where appropriate. He has also worked with executives to increase insurance recovery, to assist in structuring remedial liabilities accurately, to assist in acquisition or divestiture of properties, and to support litigation.
“Robert’s extensive expertise in investigation and remediation augments GEI’s already strong environmental practice in numerous ways,” says Tom Kahl, P.E., senior vice president and New England regional manager, to whom Dr. Lambe will report.
Dr. Lambe has also concentrated on the business practices related to the environmental aspects of the mining Industry. His expertise includes exploration programs, the economic feasibility studies of mining ventures, environmental mining assessments, restoration plan development, and litigation support. With nearly 30 years of experience in environmental remediation, Dr. Lambe is charged with expanding GEI’s environmental service offerings on a national level.
Dr. Lambe previously held upper management roles while employed at the Clayton Group, ICF Consulting, Inc., and Arthur D. Little. He worked as a District Geologist for the Newmont Mining Corporation, and started his career as a Senior Geologist with the Exxon Company, USA. Over the course of his career, Dr. Lambe has worked on projects for clients such as Boeing Aircraft, ExxonMobil, Chevron, GE Capital, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the World Bank.
He holds a masters degree and a doctorate in geology and geochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelors of science in geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Lambe is a Professional Geologist in North Carolina and a Registered Geologist in Tennessee. He is also a member of the National Defense Industry Association, the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and the Association of the U.S. Army. He has been widely published in an array of environmental and remedial trade publications dating back to 1974.
