GEI Consultants’ Mike Walker, P.E. to Speak

Internationally recognized design engineer Clyde Baker, P.E., from STS Consultants will act as moderator of a panel discussion featuring ten of the nation’s top design, construction and testing practitioners

BOSTON, Mass. – GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological engineering firms, is proud to announce that Vice President Mike Walker, P.E. has been selected to speak at the Association of Drilled Shaft Contractors (ADSC) Northeast Chapter Drilled Shaft Seminar on November 14, 2007. Walker will address the “Use of Casing for the Design of Drilled Shafts.”

Drilled shafts have become the deep foundation of choice for many projects in the commercial and transportation industries. Presented by the ten of the nation’s top design, construction, and testing practitioners, this seminar provides the latest information for design engineers.

The Geo-structural Practice Leader at GEI Consultants, Walker has over 25 years of experience specializing in soil-structure interactions and design and construction of new developments and renovations of existing facilities in urban areas adjacent to existing and sensitive structures. He also works on water resource projects, including dam design and rehabilitation.

During his 15 years at GEI, Walker has worked on many complex projects, including the world’s largest tunnel jacking project as well as high-profile structures such as excavation support for construction of the new U.S. Capitol Visitor Center next to the foundations of the historic U. S. Capitol Building.
