Assessments of the ecological health of streams, rivers, and lakes is often determined using the composition of the aquatic macroinvertebrate communities. Such assessments rely on quality laboratory processing of field collected macroinvertebrate samples, through various sorting and identification methods. Recent efforts by the North American Benthological Society to provide certification for taxonomists conducting this laboratory identification service has improved the reliability of data produced by those labs. GEI's Chadwick Ecological division's laboratory includes taxonomists certified by the North American Benthological Society for aquatic macroinvertebrate identifications. |
