Mitigation Plans

Damages to habitat or aquatic populations as a result of human activities (such as a spill or historic mine drainage) can often be mitigated through various efforts. Development of mitigation plans are often part of CERCLA/Superfund clean up plans or natural resource damage (NRD) remediation goals. Such mitigation is used to offset past damages through replacement of lost habitat, aquatic populations, or other resources.

GEI mitigation support includes development of habitat enhancement plans, calculation of "losses" for determination of mitigation goals, negotiations with stakeholders and state and federal agencies, and formal mitigation plan development.
