Permitting/Regulatory Support/Environmental Litigation

The effects of human activities on aquatic systems are subject to numerous environmental regulations, which often require permits, adherence to guidance, and sometimes result in lawsuits. Regulated activities include point sources such as treatment plant discharges, non-point sources such as stormwater discharges, mining activities, urban development, and many other activities that affect or potentially affect a water body.

Through enforcement activities of state or federal agencies, or in response to citizen lawsuits, environmental litigation can drive many studies and assessments to determine if damage to aquatic biota has occurred, and to what extent.
