GEI Consultants, Inc. Acquires Inland Seas Engineering

Traverse City, MI – October 30, 2017 – GEI Consultants, Inc. (GEI), one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, ecological science and engineering firms, announced today the acquisition of Inland Seas Engineering (ISE), a Traverse City, Michigan-based engineering consulting firm. The merger of the two firms will strengthen GEI’s operations in Traverse City and northern Michigan and will provide the market with a full range of engineering, environmental, and natural resources services.

Ms. Becky Smits founded ISE in 1993 and has grown the firm to provide services to clients across the state of Michigan and beyond. Ms. Smits stated, “We felt the opportunity to join GEI was in the best interest of our employees and clients. This merger brings immediate benefit to our existing clients through new services and will allow our staff to service additional clients in our community.”

With the acquisition of ISE in Traverse City, GEI now has offices with engineering and environmental services throughout Michigan, including Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Marquette, Iron River and Iron Mountain. The transaction closed on October 27, 2017.
