Engineering-Environmental Interaction: A Key to Project Success

In this paper, the authors discuss a means of promoting good engineering-environmental integration; identify specific, mutually beneficial points of interaction; and describe the advantages of maintaining engineering-environmental cooperation throughout the planning and design phases of a project. Specific examples are provided to illustrate how project owners and their consultants can reduce adverse environmental impacts and facilitate the permitting and approval process, while still meeting the demands and challenges of project planning, design, and construction commitments.
