Baseline Feeder Extension South Pipeline

GEI was retained by San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District to design and provide construction management for 25,000 feet of 72-inch diameter steel pipe.

Initial planning studies by GEI led to the adoption of a new alignment, reducing estimated construction costs by approximately 20 percent. Planning of the project has required coordination between several regional and local water agencies. The estimated project cost is $17,000,000.

We have verified the completed required pipeline diameter and completed an addendum to the Program EIR and survey, and have initiated preliminary design. The project was initiated in December 2002 and will be completed ahead of schedule and within budget.

The project will serve several functions:

  • Water transfers to local purveyors within San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District’s service area, facilitating the management of the groundwater basins.
  • Water wheeling to areas outside of the groundwater basin, allowing conjunctive use of multiple basins and the State Water Project.
  • Transmission within the City of San Bernardino system.
