On behalf of our clients, the water resources practice has planned, arranged financing for, designed, and managed the construction of irrigation projects delivering over two million acre-feet of water to over 650,000 acres of land in the western United States and abroad. The projects, valued at over $700 million (at current cost levels), include 750 miles of pressure pipeline, 500 miles of concrete-lined canal, and 150 pumping plants. GEI’s engineering staff has completed numerous planning and design projects involving water storage transmission and distribution systems. The projects have included pipes of various materials ranging in size up to 144-inches in diameter. Services included site and alignment investigations, failure analyses, hydraulic and pipe condition investigations, trench stability and support, seismic analyses, jacking pit design, dewatering, tunneling and microtunneling. Ground conditions ranged from soft mud with boulder obstructions to hard rock tunnels, and have included major river crossings. |
