GEI Boston Receives Silver Impact Award from Building Impact

Boston, Mass. – June 29, 2016 – GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, is proud to announce that its Boston office was awarded the 2015 Silver Impact Award from Building Impact. Recognized at the Annual NonGala Event, the award is given to firms who actively engage in volunteer programs that impact the community.

Alicia Pernaw, Director of Partner Engagement at Building Impact, gave the following statement, “Building Impact is proud to award GEI Consultants with a Silver Impact Award for their commitment to strengthen the local community through volunteerism and giving. Their efforts have truly made a difference in the community, leaving a positive impact. In 2015, GEI Consultants and Building Impact have helped generate over $1.06 million in volunteer time and product donations for over 250 nonprofit partners throughout 15 Massachusetts communities.”

Building Impact is a non-profit organization that provides companies and individuals with the knowledge and opportunity to volunteer in office as a way to encourage employees to become civically engaged.

The Boston office has been working with Building Impact for more than three years. In 2015, they participated in six Building Impact sponsored events, including creating activity bags for St. Jude’s Research Hospital, tornado bottles for YMCA Early Childhood Program (STEM), well wishes cards for elementary students, first aid kits for St. Francis Homeless Shelter, and fleece blankets for the homeless. So far in 2016, GEI has volunteered in several Building Impact events, including making dog toys for The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s animal shelter and camp care packages to support CrossRoads for Kids.
