James Ash has 27 years of experience developing and implementing subsurface investigations, designing and managing construction of remedial systems, supervising industrial facility cleanup and demolition, and providing technical assistance for property purchases, litigation support and permitting under state and federal regulatory programs.

James has conducted Immediate Response Actions (IRAs), Release Abatement Measures (RAMs), Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) Phase I, II, III and IV activities, and TSCA closures for manufacturing facilities, utilities, former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites, commercial/ retail properties and agricultural properties. Specific remedial engineering experience includes the design, construction management, startup and operation of vapor intrusion mitigation systems, soil vapor extraction (SVE) and treatment systems, groundwater extraction and treatment systems, on-site soil treatment, sediment remediation, in-situ solidifcation (ISS) and high-volume soil excavation and waste management. He has significant experience designing and implementing soil, groundwater, sediment and soil gas sampling programs. conducting and analyzing aquifer tests and SVE pilot tests, interpreting hydrogeologic and chemical data and preparing technical reports. He has contributed to projects involving soil, sediment and groundwater contamination caused by petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), PCBs, lead, cyanide and arsenic.
