Karen Miller

Senior Groundwater Leader

Karen is a Project Manager and Water Resources & Planning Professional with 30 years of experience, including 25 years working on specialized studies in California related to water resources, groundwater, planning, feasibility studies, environmental studies, hazardous waste investigation, transportation, sustainability, and climate change.

Karen is well versed in California’s water supplies, constraints, and stakeholders. She has completed hydrogeologic investigations in many of the major southern California groundwater basins. Her technical expertise is complemented by excellent technical writing skills, and she has developed a wide range of planning documents. In addition, Karen helps her clients identify strategic funding for projects, preparing both grant funding memos and successful grant applications.

Karen obtained a B.S. and M.S. in Geology from Duke University and Utah State University, respectively, with an emphasis on natural resources and climate change. For her graduate research, she implemented a project that interpreted climate change history in Alaska, with the elemental understanding that high latitudes are affected most and offer essential clues to understanding future climate change. This was coupled with an internship at the US Geological Survey in its water resources division.
