Kyle Smith, P.E.

Senior Project Engineer

Kyle is a Professional Civil Engineer who serves as a Senior Project Engineer in GEI’s Lansing, Michigan, office. Kyle has a diverse civil and water resources engineering background with a primary focus on stormwater conveyance, flood mitigation, and drainage infrastructure improvements. His experience includes hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, stormwater design, survey and field investigations, permitting, preparation of construction plans and specifications, and construction administration.

Kyle has served as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager on numerous public-sector projects throughout Michigan, working extensively with county drain commissioners, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and local municipalities. His project experience includes large-scale flood mitigation efforts, wetland restoration, shoreline stabilization, dam and culvert improvements, and urban stormwater retrofits. He has also led stormwater design efforts for Clean Water State Revolving Fund projects and private site developments across the state.

Kyle received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University.
