Bjorn Bjorkman

Senior Ecotoxicologist

Bjorn has 28 years consulting in ecological risk assessment and management, environmental due diligence, expert reporting, environmental, social and health impact assessment (ESHIA) and natural resources evaluations. Mr. Bjorkman has led or participated in ecological and human health risk assessments and risk based corrective actions in over 30 States under RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA and State programs and over a dozen countries. He is fluent in Spanish and Swedish, and has extensive international experience. Bjorn’s focus has been in upstream and downstream oil facilities, railroads, mines, MGP facilities, contaminated waterways and active and inactive military sites.

Since joining GEI, Bjorn has been focused on expanding the ecological risk assessment practice in the areas of sediment remediation and a risk-based approach to environmental management.   He is a strong advocate for a client-centered, goal oriented and scientifically sound approach to environmental issues. Swedish by birth, with an MS in aquatic ecology, Bjorn brings knowledge of habitats from the Arctic to the Amazon to risk assessment and management.

Bjorn has a M.S. in Aquatic Limnology from the University of Minessota and a B.A. in Environmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
