Geotechnical Project MangerJ. Nicolas Betancur is a senior geotechnical engineer/senior project manager in GEI’s Boston, MA office. Mr. Betancur brings 16 years of extensive experience in design, analysis, performance evaluation and instrumentation and monitoring of transportation infrastructure, flood protection infrastructure, earth retaining structures, slope stabilization and rockfall mitigation, coal ash impoundments and landfills, and site development. He is capable of effectively performing as technical project manager for complex, large scale civil infrastructure projects involving multidisciplinary teams committed to challenging schedules. Mr. Betancur is proficient with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and Federal Highway Administration design guidelines. Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard geotechnical software packages including GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W), SLIDE, L‐PILE, P-Y WALL, GROUP, PLAXIS‐2D, FBMP, GRLWEAP, CAPWAP, among others.
