Jennifer M. Sanka, RPA

Archaeologist

Jennifer Sanka has more than 20 years of archaeological fieldwork and project-related experience in the U.S., including projects in Alaska, Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, and Wisconsin. She has conducted all aspects of archaeological fieldwork and has authored/certified more than 100 technical reports to demonstrate compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) (Section 106) and state regulations. In addition, she has authored numerous cultural resources sections for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental impact statements (EIS), NEPA environmental assessments (EA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) environmental impact reports (EIR), CEQA initial studies, New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) EIS, and constraints analyses.

Ms. Sanka is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), meets the Secretary of Interior (SOI) Standards for Archaeology, and has served as a principal investigator on projects reviewed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

She holds a B.A. in Anthropology, Classics, and Comparative Religion from Miami University and an M.A. in Religion (Hebrew Bible and Archaeology) from Duke University.  She has additionally attained a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from Duke University.
