Sustainability is based on a simple principle: everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment.
Sustainable actions ensure that we have, and will continue to have, the resources to fulfill the social, economic, and environmental requirements of present and future generations. For GEI, that means we will strive to conduct business in an environmentally responsible, efficient, and economically prudent way that protects human health and our environment.
Our sustainability practices are increasingly important to our clients as they pursue their sustainability goals and seek consultants who can contribute to their progress and improved supply chain.
GEI’s Sustainability Committee
In 2010, GEI established its Sustainability Committee. The committee provides the framework and guidance for organizing and promoting sustainable business practices that benefit the environment, our employees, GEI as an enterprise, and our clients.
Our 16-member strong Sustainability Committee, including GEI’s President & CEO, promotes our company culture to enhance our working and natural environment, actively seeks to improve our carbon footprint, and supports and improves our communities through responsible and deliberate corporate activities.
The committee is responsible for implementing a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions baseline study, setting annual goals to reduce our GHG emissions, monitoring the company’s sustainable practices, and preparing an annual report on GEI’s sustainable activities.
GEI’s Sustainability Plan
GEI’s Sustainability Plan operationalizes sustainability at the corporate level. GEI’s Sustainability Plan focuses on one megatrend, climate change, that has the capacity to impact our business operations and financial success while also creating new business opportunities. Our focus on climate change will require a reduction in our GHG emissions, reduction the various kinds of waste that are generated during operations and increasing our energy efficiency.
