Frederick B. Kuhnow Joins GEI as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager

GEI expands geotechnical expertise in the west with industry expert Frederick B. Kuhnow

Denver, CO (October 14, 2021) – Frederick B. Kuhnow has joined GEI’s Denver office as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer/ Project Manager.

Frederick brings more than 25 years of multidisciplinary experience with a focus on geo-structural engineering, civil/seismic design of nuclear structures, water dams, tailings dams, and foundation engineering.

“GEI continues our growth in the mid-west with the addition of Frederick to our team,” says J. Michael Hawthorne, GEI Senior Vice President. “His knowledge of geotechnical engineering and his experience on nuclear projects aligns with the founding practice of GEI. Frederick’s experience in dam design also strengthens GEI’s expertise in the water market.”

Frederick has extensive experience leading and managing engineering designs of nuclear structures, seismic/structural design, geotechnical characterization, slope stability investigations, reinforced concrete structures design, geohazard evaluations, surface and underground mining, rock blasting, and deep excavation projects. He has been published in several technical journals and has peer-reviewed articles for industry professional societies. He is also fluent in Spanish.
