Janeen McDermott, PE joins GEI Consultants as Senior Water Resources Engineer

Civil engineer brings dam removal and stream restoration expertise throughout Midwest

Plymouth, MI (Feb. 28, 2023) – Janeen McDermott, PE has joined GEI Consultants in Plymouth, MI as a Senior Water Resources Engineer. Janeen brings more than 12 years of experience leading water resources design and construction projects, including more than 20 dam removals throughout Michigan and the Midwest.

“Janeen is adept at all facets of complex stream restoration and dam removal projects and is well known throughout the industry for her successful design accomplishments,“ says Brad Parlato, PE, GEI’s Senior Construction Manager. “Her strong technical background and proven leadership skills will be a great asset to our clients as we continue to grow our stream restoration practice throughout the country.”

Janeen’s project work includes assisting clients with environmental compliance, stormwater management and design, sediment management, stream bank stabilization, and ecological restoration. Her technical expertise covers all aspects of design for water resources projects, including data collection, H&H modeling and analysis, civil site design, permitting, and construction oversight.

“One of the things that attracted me to GEI was the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders while also contributing to the growth of the firm’s water resource practice,” says Janeen.

Janeen earned her master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University and her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology / Zoology from Michigan State University.
