Jerry Reed, P.E. Joins GEI as a Vice President and Senior Program Manager

October 20, 2021

Carlsbad, CA (October 20, 2021) – Jerry Reed, P.E. has joined GEI’s Carlsbad, CA office as a Vice President and Senior Program Manager. Jerry brings to GEI more than 32 years of diverse experience planning, designing, and overseeing construction for water resource projects including dams, large diameter pipelines, pump stations, and storage tanks. He also spent several years as a lead program manager for a large capital improvement program.

Jerry recently retired from the San Diego County Water Authority after a 26-year career. During his time there, he led several major projects that contributed to a safe and reliable supply of water for the San Diego region. This included construction oversight of the Olivenhain Dam and San Vicente Dam Raise, as well as the Twin Oaks Valley Water Treatment Plant. For the past 6 years Jerry led the San Diego County Water Authority’s Engineering Department where he was responsible for oversight of the design, construction, and program management of their large capital improvement program.

“We are thrilled that Jerry has chosen GEI,” says Daniel Wade a Vice President and West Regional Growth Leader at GEI. “His public sector experience managing major capital improvement programs combined with his technical knowledge in water resources infrastructure make him a great addition to the GEI team. We look forward to Jerry leading GEI’s program management practice as we continue to expand our growing service offerings to our clients.”

Jerry is well known in the industry as a collaborative leader. He has worked with several regional agencies and professional organizations to share and develop best management practices for program management of large capital improvement programs. He also co-authored several papers with organizations such as United States Society on Dams, Association of Dam Safety Officials, American Water Works Association, and American Society of Civil Engineers.

“There is a tremendous backlog of work needed to improve the nation’s aging infrastructure, including water resource projects such as dams, conveyance facilities, treatment plants, and flood control structures,” says Jerry. “Without these needed improvements, we cannot guarantee that people will have a safe and reliable water supply. The infrastructure backlog is growing as we speak, and we need to ensure that resources, processes, and procedures are in place to efficiently and effectively, execute these projects. That is one of the reasons why I’m so excited and honored to have joined GEI. I look forward to helping to grow the firm’s impressive reputation in the industry and working in a collaborative culture which will allow me to promote proactive program management for clients. I’m looking forward to tackling water infrastructure needs together.”
