May 20, 2021

Milwaukee, WI – Marc White has joined GEI Consultants as a Restoration Ecologist and Senior Restoration Practice Leader. Based in GEI’s Milwaukee, WI office, Marc brings more than 30 years of experience in restoration practice in the Great Lakes region and the upper Midwest.

“Our GEI team here in Wisconsin have wanted to offer the same outstanding restoration services available to our clients in the state of Michigan,” says Katie Unke Ehrenberg, GEI’s Wisconsin Ecological Project Manager and Ecological Group Manager. “Now, thanks to Marc’s expertise, GEI Wisconsin can now meet all our client’s ecological needs, including restoration services. Marc and the GEI restoration team will work collaboratively with our clients and stakeholders to minimize lifetime project costs, fill gaps in staffing capacity, and provide expert assistance in project permitting, grant writing, and grant administration.”

Marc brings the knowledge and expertise needed to complete complex restoration projects on-time, on budget, and with the highest payback in aesthetics, biodiversity, and ecosystem services, adds Katie.

“It’s my goal to help our clients achieve their restoration goals and to make beautiful places where people can build relationships with the natural world and share their love of wild things,” says Marc.  “My dedication to helping clients achieve the highest standards in ecological restoration will strengthen GEI’s ecological restoration practice throughout Wisconsin.”

Marc has extensive experience working with multiple project partners and stakeholders. He has improved habitat to support species such as Lake Sturgeon, Swamp Metalmark Butterfly, Rusty Patched Bumble Bee, Blanding’s Turtle, Red-headed Woodpecker, and many other rare and special concern species. Additionally, Marc has developed and managed projects to restore ephemeral ponds, oak savannas, prairies, forests, and hardwood swamps as well as Lake Michigan bluff, ravine, and riparian habitat.

Marc earned his B.A. in Conservation and Environmental Science from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and has his PhD Dissertator Status from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
