Geotechnical engineering expert Dr. Mehdi Mirzababaei joins GEI

Water resources leader brings innovation in soil stabilization and geotechnical design.

DALLAS, Texas, Jan. 12, 2026 – Dr. Mehdi Mirzababaei has joined GEI as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. Mehdi is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and Australia with more than 15 years of academic and industrial experience in geotechnical engineering.

“Dr. Mirzababaei’s skillset aligns with GEI’s geotechnical, geostructural, instrumentation, and design integration automation needs,” says Satish Kumar Mantha, EIT, CFM, GEI’s Dallas Branch Manager and Senior Water Resources Professional. “His addition strengthens our ability to meet a growing project backlog, while his entrepreneurial mindset presents exciting opportunities to expand our footprint in the dynamic Texas market.”

Mehdi has secured more than $500,000 in funded research on reactive clays and sustainable soil solutions. He has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed publications and has more than 3,300 citations. His expertise extends to advanced field and laboratory testing, geotechnical instrumentation, and Internet of Things/AI application development, including the development of pile load testing rigs and real-time bridge monitoring systems.

Mehdi holds a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Bolton in the United Kingdon, where his thesis was Reinforcement of Clay Soils with Waste Carpet Fibres. He also holds a Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University in Iran and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Chamran University in Iran.
