Civil Engineer Nathaniel Merriman joins GEI

Merriman specializes in structural solutions to waterfront challenges.

NEWPORT, Rhode Island, Dec. 2, 2025 – Nathaniel Merriman P.E. has joined GEI Consultants as Project Manager for Waterfront Structures. He is a Civil/Structural Engineer with a breadth of multidisciplinary experience in the residential and industrial sectors.

Nathaniel has managed large-scale complex projects that include architectural, structural, civil, HVAC, electrical, process and instrumentation design elements, subcontractor oversight, and design and inspection services.

“We are excited Nathaniel has decided to join GEI’s waterfront group,” says Kevin Buruchian, Waterfront Group Manager at GEI in Boston. “He brings a vast knowledge of multidisciplinary projects which helps expand our capabilities and adds depth to our growing team.”

Nathaniel specializes in devising creative structural solutions to a wide range of engineering problems related to waterfront structures. He has managed complex waterfront projects with a variety of designs and timelines.

“I am looking forward to joining the GEI and working on the team’s diverse range of waterfront projects,” says Nathaniel. “I enjoy delivering on projects that involve many kinds of disciplines, all working to meet the clients’ needs.”

Nathaniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
