Brian Majka

Senior Restoration Ecologist

Brian is a Senior Restoration Ecologist with GEI Consultants with more than 25 years of experience in ecological restoration planning, design, and implementation. His expertise spans wetland and stream restoration, Great Lakes coastal restoration, natural and nature-based shoreline stabilization, native plantings, invasive species management, and habitat enhancement.

Brian specializes in integrating ecological principles and engineering to develop practical, science-based solutions that improve habitat, reduce shoreline erosion, and increase coastal resilience. His work has contributed to restoration efforts throughout the Great Lakes region, with a particular focus on Michigan’s coastal ecosystems and the use of nature-based approaches to address shoreline hazards.

In addition to the design and construction of projects, he has helped advance the practice of natural shoreline restoration through professional training, technical guidance, and presentations, and has contributed to the development of tools that support the selection of sustainable shoreline restoration techniques.

Brian has a B.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Science from Purdue University and works collaboratively with public agencies, local governments, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders to restore and protect aquatic and coastal resources.

Brian Majka’s expertise in ecological restoration is surpassed only by his positive attitude and a superior ability to communicate, organize and educate a vast array of project stakeholders and design team members. As a client, the West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission values Mr. Majka’s ability to guide diverse project teams through complex, decision-making processes.
