Jacob Dafni, Ph.D., P.E.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Jake Dafni is a senior geotechnical engineer in GEI’s Portland, ME office. His comprehensive background includes data collection, design, management, construction, research, and teaching. His technical experience includes in situ field investigation and analysis, geologic mapping, instrumentation, reconnaissance, rock mass and soil characterization, analysis for soil and rock slopes, dams, tunnels, bridges, anchors, seismic ground response, liquefaction, shallow and deep foundation design, lateral earth pressures, settlement, bearing capacity, and excavatability of rock. Jake has worked with Federal, State, and Local agencies as well as private sector clientele, and has performed work internationally. He has a particular affinity for dam and transportation projects, and rock engineering.

Jake holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington, both with a geotechnical focus, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Union College.
