Meet Gei's

Joan Klipsch

Principal Reservoir Modeler

Ms. Klipsch retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) with over 35 years of civil and software engineering experience in the fields of hydrology and hydraulics for flood control and water resource management. Her work includes providing modeling support and software development services to the USACE, the National Weather Service, the State of California, and various water agencies, river authorities, and flood control districts.

During her last 25 years with HEC, Ms. Klipsch led the team that developed the Reservoir Simulation System, HEC-ResSim software. She was also a founding member of the team that developed the Corps Water Management System (CWMS) and provided support for its modeling tools including HEC-HMS (Hydrology), HEC-RAS (Hydraulics), HEC-ResSim (Reservoirs), and HEC-DSS (Data Storage).

Ms. Klipsch worked on several nationally and locally important projects including the Columbia River Treaty studies, the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa and Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACT-ACF) watershed studies, the Yuba-Feather Forecast Coordinated Operations (FCO) System Development Project, and the CMWS National Implementation Project.

Ms. Klipsch joined GEI to share her knowledge and experience with other engineers working in reservoir simulation (HEC-ResSim) modeling and real-time water management.
