Peter Morris

Technical Manager, Lead Software Engineer

Peter Morris is a Technical Manager and Lead Software Engineer with more than 30 years of experience leading engineering data science and software development efforts supporting large-scale water management systems. He is known for delivering mission-critical, enterprise-scale web-enabled data platforms that operate reliably in real-world, high-consequence environments. He specializes in the design, development, and delivery of data-driven engineering applications that support real-time operations, forecasting, and decision support for complex water resources systems.

Prior to joining GEI, Peter built much of his career at Resource Management Associates, where he supported enterprise software development for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center. He has served as a technical manager for major USACE enterprise platforms, including the Corps Water Management System (CWMS), the Water Management Enterprise System, and related data acquisition, validation, and reporting tools. His work includes the design and leadership of secure, web-based operational applications and services used by distributed teams to access, visualize, and manage engineering data in near real time.

His expertise spans front-end and back-end application development, modern web application design, database architectures, web services, and modern delivery workflows, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and operational performance. Peter also leads multidisciplinary software teams applying Agile and DevOps practices to deliver integrated data services for federal and state water agencies. His work bridges deep engineering-domain understanding with modern web, API-driven, and cloud-ready architectures, enabling sustainable modernization of legacy systems.
