Shannon Newbold
Senior Software EngineerShannon Newbold is a Senior Software Engineer with more than 25 years of experience developing advanced engineering software for flood risk management, ecosystem analysis, and real-time water operations. He specializes in the design and implementation of large-scale Java-based application frameworks and geospatial visualization tools used by federal water agencies.
Prior to joining GEI, Shannon built much of his career at Resource Management Associates, where he designed and implemented RMA’s Java-based application framework now used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. He is the primary developer for several widely used USACE applications, including HEC-FIA, HEC-EFMSim, HEC-EFM Mapper, HEC-EFM Plotter, and HEC-RPT. His work spans flood consequence analysis, ecosystem response modeling, and decision-support visualization, integrating complex geospatial datasets with numerical modeling engines.
Shannon is known for translating technical and scientific requirements into robust, user-focused software platforms that support planning and operational decision-making.
