GEI’s Frank Leathers Receives Leadership in Geotechnical Engineering Award from The Engineering Center Education Trust

Boston, Mass. – November 4, 2016 – GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading  geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced today that The Engineering Center Education Trust (TECET) presented an award to Senior Principal Frank Leathers, P.E., F.ASCE, D.GE, for his Leadership in Geotechnical Engineering. The award was presented on November 3rd during TECET’s annual leadership dinner held in Boston.

TECET’s Leadership in Geotechnical Engineering award is given to an individual who demonstrates dedication to the field and its future leaders. The award recognizes prominent regional or national leaders who are dedicated to advancing the engineering profession and providing public good. TECET is a nonprofit organization that educates professionals, students, and the public about engineering and land surveying in the natural and built environment.

Frank has 42 years of experience working as a civil engineer at GEI Consultants, Inc., specializing in the fields of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and groundwater hydraulics. His expertise has allowed him to lead many notable and complex projects from New York to Kuwait. Frank has contributed much to the engineering community through his past presidency of the ACEC/MA and the Engineering Center. He is also currently a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a past board member of the Geoprofessional Business Association, as well as an active member of the Deep Foundation institute and the Masssachusetts Building Code Seismic Advisory Committee. He previously appeared on NECN’s “CEO Corner” to share his expertise in project management and geotechnical engineering, and show his leadership style that has brought GEI much success.

Frank joined GEI in 1974 after receiving his Masters of Science in geotechnical engineering from MIT and was one of the first employees hired at GEI. He became the first non-founder to serve as company president and chairman of the board in 1995, and has played a significant role in the growth and development of GEI over the past four decades.
