An exciting and formative time in the saga of water infrastructure in California.

Oakland, CA (May 11, 2021) – Arun Parsons, P.E. has joined GEI Consultants as a Senior Practice Leader working from GEI’s Oakland, CA office. Arun brings to GEI more than 17 years of experience planning and implementing construction management services for dams, flood control, and water infrastructure projects in the United States and overseas.

“Arun’s diverse professional background in civil/geological engineering, engineering management, and construction management is a great addition to GEI’s growing water resources infrastructure practice in California,” says Dan Wade, GEI Vice President and West Regional Growth Leader. “We are thrilled to have Arun join our team.”

For the last decade Arun has been based in northern California, building and leading teams for field investigations, inspections, engineering analysis, design, and construction management for dam improvement projects across the state of California and for coastal flood protection projects in the Bay Area.

“We are in an exciting and formative time in the saga of water infrastructure in California,” says Arun. “So many of our dams, conveyance and flood control structures need improvements to maintain public safety and supply reliability for growing populations. The clock is ticking on improvement programs and the cost of construction is rising. Now, more than ever, we need forward-thinking construction management practices that go beyond the traditional, leaning more heavily on collaboration and risk-management to control cost. I’m so pleased to have joined GEI, who have this forward-thinking and collaborative culture which will allow us to keep raising the bar for construction management. I’m looking forward to doing great things together.”

Arun enjoys working directly with clients to understand their needs and develop solutions. He is well-placed to coordinate and leverage GEI’s local, regional and national resources to develop and deliver the right construction management solutions for the project at hand. He has extensive experience working with large facility-owners such as the California Department of Water resources (DWR), San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water), as well as developing and implementing effective solutions for smaller owners.

Arun earned his MS in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and his BS in Geology from Rhodes University in South Africa. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in California.
