GEI’s Benjamin Sawa Named the SMPS 2015 Chapter President of the Year

BOSTON, Mass.—October 21, 2015— GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced today that Director of Marketing, Benjamin Sawa, was named 2015 Chapter President of the Year by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the premier marketing and business development association in the A/E/C industry. Mr. Sawa was officially honored at Build Business, SMPS’s annual conference, on Thursday, August 20, 2015, during the Awards Gala held in Los Angeles, CA.

SMPS’s Chapter President of the Year Award recognizes an SMPS Chapter President who has demonstrated excellence in leadership while serving the Chapter and its members. Mr. Sawa was nominated for the award by his colleagues in the Boston Chapter, who submitted a nomination packet to the selection committee citing Mr. Sawa’s passion in leading a reinvestment in the Chapter’s members, development of new programming, and innovative strategic leadership as just a few of the qualities he possesses to be worthy of this award. In the submission, one of his nominators stated, “to know Ben is to know and appreciate what leadership really means. Ben embodies what it means to be an effective leader with a combination of enthusiasm, strategy, and purpose.”

Mr. Sawa has been an active member in the association since 2008, acting as the Chapter’s Treasurer from 2010-2013, and has contributed many posts to the Chapter’s blog. In 2013, as part of his 3-year commitment to the office of President, he served as Vice President of the Chapter, and is currently serving out his remaining year as Past President.
