GEI’s John Darmohray Earns Construction Management Certification

January 20, 2015

BOSTON, Mass.—January 14, 2015— GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced today that John P. Darmohray recently earned his Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation, issued by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI). Mr. Darmohray, an environmental scientist working out of GEI’s Mt. Laurel office, was awarded the CCM designation in November, after meeting the program’s criteria which includes education requirements, field experience, and demonstrated capability and understanding of the CM body of knowledge.

The criteria for certification are based on both formal academic training and professional project management field experience. Key to the program is the mandatory 4-year responsible-in-charge construction manager experience as a part of a project delivery team in the roles and functions of a construction manager throughout all phases of construction as defined by CMAA (Construction Management Association of America). Applicants must also complete a rigorous process including an extensive application reviewed and evaluated by the Certification Board of Governors, and passing a comprehensive 5-hour exam. Certification is renewable on a three-year basis with mandatory continuing education requirements.

The Construction Manager Certification Institute is governed by a Board of Governors and is comprised of CM professionals who are responsible for policies and procedures affecting criteria for professional certification and the determination of individual certification status of candidates enrolled in the CM Certification Program. CMCI’s mission is to recognize through certification, individual knowledge and experience that meet the established practices of Construction Management.
