Dam safety and water resources expert John Moyle, PE joins GEI’s Dam Safety Practice

Sacramento, CA (March 2, 2023)John Moyle, PE, has joined GEI Consultants in Sacramento, CA as a Vice President, Senior Engineer, and Project Manager. John has more than 40 years of experience managing complex dam safety and water resources related projects.

“John brings extensive dam safety experience to our already strong team,” says David Gutierrez, Vice President of GEI. “His industry knowledge will help him provide leadership and mentorship to our expanding water group.”

John’s expertise includes: dam inspection, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of dams, including dam breach analysis and inundation mapping development, existing dam rehabilitation design and plan preparation, Emergency Action Plans preparation, Emergency Response Exercises execution, and Dam Operation and Maintenance Manuals development.

“I am excited to join GEI’s growing practice and collaborate with our technical experts to bring innovative solutions to our clients for their water resources and water infrastructure projects,” says John. “I look forward to working with our communities throughout the United States, and with project partners to address the challenges of our aging infrastructure within our dam safety community. I also look forward to working with local and state governments on flood risk reduction projects.”

Prior to joining GEI, John worked with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for 42 years. Most recently, he served as the Department’s Director of the Division of Dam Safety and Flood Engineering, responsible for their Dam Safety and Flood Risk Reduction Programs. He was the state NFIP coordinator for New Jersey and worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers on flood control projects in addition to his work with the Department’s Dam Safety Program.
