Industry veteran aims to expand GEI’s construction management capabilities

Woburn, MA (November 18, 2021) – Joseph “Joe” Caryl has joined GEI Consultants as Vice President of Construction Services. Based in GEI’s Plymouth, MI office, Joe brings more than twenty years of experience as a principal construction manager. He has overseen hundreds of projects for public and private sector clients across North America involving construction, decommissioning and demolition, and environmental remediation and restoration.

Joe is one of the top construction professionals in the Great Lakes region, and, in fact, across the country. He’s an expert in complex upland, sediment, and environmental remediation construction,” says Scott Wallington, GEI’s Chief Development Officer. “Joe will bring significant value to GEI clients during their construction stage implementation. Additionally, Joe will support GEI’s engineers and designers with informed constructability reviews to ensure final designs are optimized for clients. We’re excited to have Joe on Team GEI.”

Joe has served as Vice President of US Remediation Construction and a principal construction manager on several key U.S. projects for federal, state, municipal, energy, industrial, and commercial clients. Joe has also led, mentored, and developed PM and CM teams across the nation to successfully complete large, complex projects.

“I’m a firm believer in open, direct, and honest communication,” says Joe. “That includes the effective integration of design and construction teams to meet client expectations and drive project value.”

A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Joe holds a Bachelors in Biology and a Masters in Construction Management. He cites GEI’s history of applying “good science and exceptional engineering” as one aspect that made the firm a fit.

“I admire GEI’s partnership mentality, as well as the team’s ability to focus on collaborating nationwide on a wide range of services,” says Joe. “I’m hoping to leverage established client relationships, as well as creating new ones, to expand GEI’s construction management services and capabilities.”
