Flanders brings bridge engineering and inspection experience.

PORTLAND, Maine, May 27, 2026 Lauren Flanders, P.E., has joined GEI Consultants as Waterfront Structural Engineer. She has more than 12 years of experience in bridge design and bridge inspection throughout New England. Lauren has worked on projects with several New England state transportation departments and the California Department of Transportation, Caltrans.

“Lauren brings a strong structural engineering background that will serve our coastal waterfront clients well, and her experience in bridge engineering will allow us to venture further into bridge design,” says Leila Pike, P.E., Branch Manager and Water Resources Engineer at GEI. “Her inspection background will pair well with our underwater inspection capabilities for us to provide a comprehensive set of services on waterfront structures inspection projects.”

Lauren has extensive experience in project management, and she also has a passion for writing and producing concise, correct, and informative reports. Lauren lives in South Portland where she has a first-hand view of climate change impacts and is excited to work on coastal resiliency projects and contribute to her community through design.

“I was impressed with the team atmosphere at GEI,” says Lauren. “I am excited about the many opportunities to work on coastal projects, along with participating in the clear company-wide, people-first culture.”

Lauren holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural concentration as well as a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine.
