Geotechnical Engineer Michael Driller Joins GEI

Driller brings experience in water and civil engineering projects.

SACRAMENTO, California, Jan. 15, 2024 – Michael “Mike” Driller, P.E., G.E., has joined GEI Consultants as Senior Geotechnical Consultant. Mike brings more than 40 years of experience managing complex water resources and civil engineering projects including planning, engineering, design, and construction.

“Mike brings extensive expertise in geotechnical and earthquake engineering, with a proven track record in seismic hazard evaluations, soil improvement, and landslide mitigation,” says Satya Gala, Senior Vice President and Sacramento Branch Manager at GEI. “With Mike’s skills, we’re better equipped to deliver innovative, precise solutions for dams, levees, and other critical infrastructure, reinforcing GEI’s commitment to excellence and client success.”

Mike also has specialized expertise in working with soft organic soils, field and laboratory testing, and developing plans and specifications for large-scale water projects. His background in landfill design, seismic hazard evaluations, and soil improvement techniques will strengthen GEI’s abilities to address complex geotechnical challenges efficiently and effectively.

Mike holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Sacramento. He has authored numerous papers and made presentations on geotechnical and earthquake engineering.
