GEI provides technical support services for the entire lifecycle of linear projects ranging from initial siting assessments, ecological services, design including horizontal directional drilling, regulatory permitting, engineering support, construction oversight and performance monitoring. Our integrated delivery process provides clients with efficiencies that save time and money throughout the project.
GEI has worked on hundreds of linear infrastructure projects throughout the U.S. including transmission lines, pipelines, cables, wind farms, transportation corridors and solar arrays. Through our experience on these and other similar projects, we have developed a unique understanding of owner and contractor issues. We work with clients, regulatory agencies and stakeholders to develop solutions that meet client’s goals, budgets and timeframes. For example, our horizontal directional drilling – when coupled with permitting services for pipeline construction – can help smoothly expedite the permitting process.
Routing and Siting
GEI’s interdisciplinary team of technical experts helps clients evaluate the environmental effects of proposed linear projects, including site suitability assessments and alternatives analyses. On behalf of the owner, our team establishes collaborative working relationships with regulatory and permitting agencies and effectively interacts with members of the public. This is necessary to define and perform scopes of work that address the requirements of the client, regulatory agencies and project stakeholders.
Permitting, Design and Construction
To permit, design and construct linear infrastructure projects, we use proven methods of coordination and collaboration with strict management of quality, value, schedule and cost. Many projects rely on our ability to provide innovative site design that blends the project in with the environment and local topography. We integrate our expertise in municipal and urban engineering and construction management as well as our geotechnical, environmental and structural engineering services into many of our projects.
Restoration, Monitoring and Maintenance
Our involvement in a project does not end after construction. We continue to monitor sites to comply with agreed-upon regulatory conditions and detect any unforeseen impacts. Our innovative approaches and knowledge of new and pending regulatory practices move beyond “pass/fail” test results to offer consulting-based, on-expert scientific knowledge to meet strict regulatory requirements. We monitor biological conditions by assessing the ecological health of aquatic, terrestrial and marine environments.
